Do you love cocktails, but get tired of the same-ol-same-ol? Sometimes you just want something different. Signature cocktails, I believe, are the beautiful foundation for other drinks to be born.
I love Mexican food. And when I say ‘I love Mexican food’- I really mean, I love queso, tacos and margaritas. But that counts, right?
The most important part of that statement was the ‘margaritas.’ I get extremely frustrated when my margarita is not made correctly at the bar. It’s either too sour or too sweet and I get tired of the regular Joe-Shmoe margarita.
When trying to come up with a new recipe, I was over at my Mom’s house (where all good recipes are developed) and she had kiwis that were about to be taken to the curb if not used.
I thought- they’re lime green, margaritas are lime green. They’re a fruit and margaritas use fruit. Why not?!
When you muddle the kiwi slices and add the regular margarita ingredients, shake and pour into your glass- this will be your new favorite margarita that’s perfect to accompany any Mexican meal or be your go-to summer drink. The little black seeds from the kiwi become a cool ‘accidental garnish’ and the lime green color of the cocktail make it super appealing to sip. Enjoy!
This recipe is for a single drink, but can be easily multiplied by how many guests you’re entertaining.
- 3 slices of kiwi
- 1 oz silver tequila
- 3 oz sweet and sour mix (Rose's preferred)
- ½ oz sweetened lime juice (Rose's preferred)
- Place kiwi slices in cocktail shaker and muddle.
- Add tequila, sweet and sour mix, and lime juice to the shaker.
- Add ½ cup of ice to the shaker.
- Shake the ingredients.
- Pour into rocks glass and serve with a kiwi slice on the glass.
